Thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a memorable day. And now the photos, because everyone likes to see pics of models fighting models.

The tournament's smallest army featured just 5 models - Sauron, The Witchking and 3 other nazgul.
They would go on to score a surprise major victory in the Domination scenario ("Hold 5 objectives") - who needs more than 1 model per victory goal anyway?

Mirkwood Cavalry charge, following King Thranduil. Crossbows would kill 4 of them instantly, before being wiped out in return over the subsequent turns.

When the un-armoured pygmies are put in the front line, you know you're fighting Elves.

Image

Fighting inch-by-inch towards the objective, only the massive armour of this troll would keep it in the game as it took a huge amount of hits from elven heroes and warriors.

Another game, another pygmy front line for the elves.

Driven to madness by a wound inflicted by Legolas and his allies, the Mumak would stampede through Harad's own lines, shedding archers from the howdah as it did so

Image

Even as goblins fell on the front line, the Goblin Scribe would summon more from the pits below.

The Fiefdom of Dol Amroth faced Gondor on the top table of the new player stream

Image

The game was so close that it came down to which player had a banner remaining. The Army of the dead kept theirs, while an unfortunate 'accident' in the last turn lead to Treebeard throwing an enemy model further than expected, crashing through 11 other models -- including Gondor's banner bearer. On this narrowest of victories, Gregg won the best new general trophy for the Fiefdoms.

Image

Good to see the regulars, but great to see a good number of new players. Looking forward to the next event!

Can't beat a big pile of pictures showing a whole bunch of great looking armies for some inspiration. Some interesting stuff in there.

(ok, really it's because they are from ANThony's Isengard army, but I preferred the answer above)

Looks like more than five armies made it to the fight. Even Woses. Fantastic pictures of the action. Looks like a lot of fun.
