TLA PAINTING COMPETITION RESULTS

This was a difficult competition to judge thanks to the quality of entries. Thank you to all entrants for posting such inspiring models, most of which could easily be called works of art. I think that everyone has enjoyed seeing the photos, and watching some of the most talented LOTR/Hobbit hobbiests and artists push the boundaries.

Thanks to my fellow judges Lady Kindle and FreddieUK for helping to review and assess the entries. I have compiled to results and can now announce the winners and runner-ups for the the first TLA painting competition of the year.

Thanks again to everyone who made the effort to enter the competition and share their artwork with the community here on The Last Alliance.

OPEN: LARGER ENTRIES

This was the hardest category to judge, because the size of the models and open nature of the category let people really stretch themselves and create some terrific models.

Khandish Great Beast, by RIGG
A cross-army conversion, with gorgeously coloured Khandish warriors taking the place of Orcs

Radagast the Brown on Sleigh by Werner
A natural and well painted model

Joint 3rd: Dragon of Moria - by Wah Wing
A fantastic conversion on a terrific base. Horrific.

Joint 3rd: They have a Cave Troll, by Bombur
A great model, purposefully mounted on an imposing base.

I'll be contacting the following people about their prizes, but again have to thank everyone who entered - you all deserve a prize, it's a shame we only have 3 this time :D

[] Brushstroke and Celeborn came joint first the Single Model category. Because of this, both can win BEORN AND BEAR - or model of equivalent value.
[] RIGG comes first in the Open: Larger Entries Category, and wins NOBLE ELF LORD - Foot and Mounted, or model of equivalent value.
[] Vaeroun comes first in the Unreleased Profile Category, and wins RANDOM DWARF on ARMOURED HOG - or model of equivalent value.

Congratulations!

Well done everybody. I really enjoyed seeing all these entries and photos, it has been a real source of inspiration.
I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone.

Nice competition, I expected more participation, also for the presence of rich and interesting prizes, the competition would be even more difficult, congratulations to the other winners and participants, I am glad that, unlike that proposed by some, the competition is It was much more open and has seen different winners. Thanks again to the organizers, I expect there will be a next contest, even without prizes, would be nice to still participate;).

Hi guys,

Thanks Judges for the special mentions, very much appreciated. I know my painting standard wasn't at the level of the winners, but I did of course achieve my aim by entering the comp.
My aim was to get me a model of Dain on his Hog, which was one of the prizes, and a fantastic character from the books and particularly the films.

The competition inspired me to do something I haven't done for a long time, which is to crack open the green stuff again. The last models I really went to town on modelling we're Ents, and that has got to be about 10 years ago!

Thank you for the inspiration on this. I will be looking to get back to modelling more. I don't manage to play many games these days but I am teaching my kids, hopefully they will take to it like I did when it first came out, but until then modelling and painting is what I am really enjoying.

Thanks again for the mentions!

Plonker
