Upgrading the warriors of Middle-earth: Helmingas

Hi all,

Fëanor and I will be working on a series of articles, which will bear the (rather unimaginative) name of 'Upgrading the warriors of Middle-earth', and will describe some ways to convert and paint the upgraded versions of all the warriors that can be promoted in the new books.
Of course, the techniques described can be of use for many other projects as well, so they're certainly worth checking out!

I've been upgrading some of my elves in the following ways:

For Galadhrim Knights/Warriors to Galadhrim Guard:
Added pennants to the spears with a lothlorien design on them and gave helmets/shields a silver rim

For wood elves to Noldorin Exiles:
Gave them a slightly different colour scheme and elvish characters on their cloaks

For wood elves to Mirkwood guard:
Swapped their bows for High Elf bows; painted them in a different colour scheme

For High Elves to King's Guard:
Added greenstuff tassels to their helmets and painted them slightly differently.

Funny how it's still attracting views after all these years! Perhaps one day I'll get around to writing another one...
